I love DIY´s and always curious to try something new. A couple of years ago i saw this, i think it was on pinterest, and needed to try it. Since then i don´t use anything else.

What do you need ?
Soap bar
Hand mixer
Large container / bottle ❁
A pan
and a Knife

❁ I think it is best to use a glass bottle. With a plastic, in a time the detergent will sit on the inside and you can clean it very good, but a glass bottle can be boiled, to clean it everytime when it is empthy. This recipe is made for the one i use,i use a container of 4 liter and yes, i know it is a plastic one. But that is why i suggest a glass bottle. So if your bottle is 2 liters or less, do the recipe in the half.

How to make ?
Step 1. You start by cutting the soap bar in very fine, small pieces. The smaller, the better. You can also use a grater for this. I always use the half of marseille soap bar.

Step 2. You put this in the pan and fill it with water. Set on high heat and stir regularly! When the water is boiling, set it on low heat until all the soap is dissolved.

Step 3. Now you need to let it rest for at least 8 hours, just outside the refrigerator.
Step 4. If it is all stiffed, you start with mixing with the hand blender, slowely. You maybe need to add a little bit of water

Step 5. When you have mixed everything into a smooth mix, pour it into the bottle and fill it with water to the brim.
Step 6. Shake it and the detergent is ready to use!

Tip: make it in the evening so it can stand and stiffen all night.

I always use pure vinegar as softener (it doesn´t smell after washing to vinegar, i thought that also). Sometimes i add also ethereal oil for an extra smell. Using vinegar also cleans the tubes inside the washing machine.
